Seagate 400GB pushbutton power issue

[ Edited ]
I have a Seagate 400GB model 9Y784L-560 that no longer powers up. I have two questions:

1) I'm no longer sure which of the many power supplies in my computer room is for this drive, and I'd like to try a different power supply. What are this drive's enclosure's voltage, current and polarity requirements?

2) I also have a CD-ROM drive in an external USB case. I could take out the CD drive and insert the hard disk, but... how do I get the Seagate's enclosure open? (the warranty has already expired)

1) You can see all the power supply specs here.

2) Opening up the enclosure could break the drive, and I think it's hard to get it open.  Might require Torx screws.  Good luck. :-(

Re: Seagate 400GB pushbutton power issue

shamus,

Not sure if this will help and strangly it was rather difficult to find the power supply for this device.  I went through the segate site and could not find the information. Normally the drive and the power cord both have the power rating information on them so you can easily match them. The 400GB model 9Y784L-560 that information is only on the power supply and not the drive. This is what found when looking for the infomration after loosing touch with which power supply went to this device.

I.T.E. Power Supply
P/N: 3494966
P/N: 100356849
Model No: NU40-2120300-I1
Input: 100-240V~50/60Hz 1.2A
Output: 12V === 3.0A

Good luck.
