Re: Seagate desktop ext 500g

well, for some bizare reason the HD started working and I retrived about 5g,

and then it stopped and came up with an error 0x8007045D i/0 device error .

Disk management tells me it needs to be initialized , but this fails as " the drive cannot find the sector required".

Re: Seagate desktop ext 500g

As there was no answers to my last question I went ahead and removed the Hd from it's casing and mounted it as a internal HD.

Starting, win tells me catastrophic disk collapse imminent press F2 to continue which I did win loaded and I could see the HD but could not access it.

I shut down,  rebooted, and got the win warning again, pressed F2 and then F8 to go into safe mode.

Win took anywhere up to 20 minutes to load safe mode files but eventually load.

The faulty HD was listed and I could access it, transfer of files 375g took 18 hours.
