Hello all.
I own a Seagate Expansion Desktop External Drive 1,5 TB.

The drive was bought in Germany and it also had the clicking noise problem. When it was clicking, the data rate was decreasing from 28 MB/s down to 3 MB/s. I was very disappointed about the performance, like many others of you too.
But I found a simple solution, that works: Just change the delivered USB cable. I changed the cable and now the clicking is gone.
I am now using a standard noname USB cable. The only difference is: The new cable is a cable with a ferrite bead. I think the ferrite bead makes the difference.
My drive is now operating normally at a transfer rate of 28MB/s without any clicking.
Best regards from Germany, Stefan

In addition to the my first tip, to change the usb cable, here is another one: It seems, that the bios option is also responsible for the clicking problem. I have a Gigabyte P55M-UD2. There are two options called USB legacy function and USB storage function. To avoid the clicking problem, it is important to set both options on "Enabled": Settings
Best regards, Stefan
