Hi. I had a full PC back-up on my Seagate. There was no space left on it, so I removed my PC from the Seagate to free up space. Waited for it to safely disconnect before unplugging the unit. Husband said to do an uninstall and reinstall which I did. Or attempted to do! the Seagate would not reinstall when I plugged it in. Nothing happened. So now I turn to you for advice....
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

Did I post this in the wrong place? Have not received any response yet. Here's more info on the seagate unit:

Hello TartlesCapri
I think this is the right place, but I don't know what it means to "do an uninstall and reinstall" - of what? And I couldn't quite follow the rest of your post "There was no space left on it". Is this the drive or the PC? You removed your PC from the seagate to free up space. I don't understand this.
Your follow up post with those numbers and letters also didn't help.
I am really not trying to be rude and would like to help, I am just struggling to make sense of what you wrote, but I'll try ;.
You had a full PC backup on your seagate 250 GB drive. The drive was full so you deleted the PC backup files. You disconnected the drive (safely) from the USB. You uninstalled the Seagate backup software and when you plug the drive back in to the USB port the computer does not autoplay and try to reinstall the Seagate software.
Does that sound correct?

Yes! that's it! I apologize for not being more accurate in my description of the problem. I'm actually amazed you figured it out given the info I posted--and I did not think you were being rude at all. The Software will not autorun to reinstall. Also, I did not know what was meant by Model number until I found it earlier today--which is why it didn't appear in my original post. The model number is ST902504BDA101-RK.
I did download the software from Seagate Support, and extracted the zipped files--now that's where I'm stuck!

If you have downloaded the files already that's great.
Did you extract the files to the root (very top level) of the Seagate Replica drive? When you first open the drive you should see autorun.inf and setup.exe and the two folders Seagate and Rebit.
If you extracted them somewhere else just copy them over to the drive at the top level
If autorun still doesn't work, try doubleclicking setup.exe to run it.

Mission accomplished...all is well and the Seagate is backing up files just as it should. Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it!

I'm glad it worked out for you. I know how frustrating it can be when things don't work as they should.
That's why I try to help out on these forums.
bye
