Vibrates badly!

[ Edited ]
Just bought a Maxtor Onetouch 4. Should i be concerned about the vibration it makes?  Internal hard drive (balance) damage, or something?  I had an WD external before, and it vibrated as much as this one. I returned it immediately. I have 4 Seagate internal HDD:s and only one (old one) vibrates.
Don't want to RMA this one, If there's nothing wrong with the drive itself (It's just a backup drive).
Bad luck or what!

Edit: HDtune and Everest Ultimate can't read any S.M.A.R.T information?
Impossible to know, if the HDD is bad or not.

hello ,  try the software seatools for Dos , run a long test  i do remember that seatools v 1.09 had the option of changing the accoustic option, and at the same time to decresase those vibrations:smileywink:

Re: Vibrates badly!

Seatools for Dos, doesn't even recognize the usb drive. Nothing wrong with the other Seagate drives though.
I've never had problems with Seagate drive's, that's the reason i only buy Seagate Drives. I've had a lot of failed drives with WD, "old" Maxtor and Samsung....  Iv'e bought about 10 internal Seagate drives and only one "old one" vibrates. Now i have this "vibration" with this external Maxtor. Nothing wrong with the drive itself, but this vibration it makes, must be because, there's something wrong with the HDD itself. I don't mean the normal HDD vibration, it vibrates/shakes really bad!
It's normal with the "vibration" while the drive is in use. But this one vibrates really bad,  all the time.
What to do? I don't use this drive 24/7. I only use it for (manual) backup, approximately one time a week...
