Nope. Yours is the only reply so far. In case anybody with knowledge reads this, I should add that when the hang occurs during the WinXP startup screen, the rolling bars freeze.

This happens to these units and other manuf. types.
Unplug the unit when rebooting, or try different settings in the BIOS. Make sure no other devices are looked as a boot device.
The final thing is turn off USB in DOS mode or Legacy device.
IF you have a USB keyboad, it won't work until Windows starts with that last setting.

Thanks MrButkus. I'll try tweaking the BIOS settings. Turning off usb in dos mode seems drastic, considering it's a sporadic problem, and unplugging when hung works fine. Basically just another nagging WinAnnoyance. Seems like one more reason to get a Mac when the old 8400 goes by the wayside. Thanks again!

I have the same problem. I figured out that unplugging it during startup was a viable go around, but the problem still bothers me. My other externals, including my Seagate FreeAgent, don't cuse this problem, so why does the One Touch?
If I were to modify the Bios settings, what should I do?

Same issue here. One Touch Four Plus Firmware rev 01.2.1 S/N 2HAADN20. It hangs Windows Media
Center on an HP PCm7067 during boot up. Unplugging it from the USB port and allowing Windows to boot
and then plugging in the One Touch is the only way it works. I don't like to mess with the BIOS for the sake
of an external drive with an obvious engineering problem. Any ideas?

<<<< external drive with an obvious engineering problem. >>>
Sorry to say.. check the other USB HD products of different makers... same problems with boot up with their USB HDs attached.
One solution... remove Legacy USB support
Until Windows starts.. no USB devices are detected... this means your USB mouse nor USB keyboard won't work in BIOS nor hitting the F8 Key to go to Safe Mode. Just have a PS/2 keyboard handy.
No USB, not boot interruptions...
