I have a maxtor onetouch mini -120G external hard drive which I purchased about a month ago. It was woking fine until a few days ago when my notebook computer stopped recognizing it. After doing the trouble shooting methods on this site I got it recognized but now it is only recognized when I:
right click on "my computer" and follow the steps to delete the maxtor driver. I then remove the maxtor drive and reconnect it. It is then recognized and works properly. I ignore the directive to restart my computer because if I do so the drive is no longer recognized. It is also not recognized whn I restart my notebook and I have to remove the driver and go through the remove/connect procedure.The drive is recognized on my desktop computer with no problem. My notebook computer runs windows xp with all updates.
This constant deleting of the driver is getting to be be a pain so if anyone has any suggestions to correct this problem I will be extremely grateful.
