SAMSUNG EXTERNAL HDD NOT RECOGNIZED BY WINDOWS 7

[ Edited ]

Hi,

My SAMSUNG S2 PORTABLE 500GB (HXMU0500A/G2) (external 500GB HDD) is recognized in my PC running XP and in my laptop running Vista, and I can see the contents, and copy/paste as with any other drive.

However, in my new PC running Windows 7 (64bit) it sees the external HDD as SAMSUNG E: and right click properties sees used space 267Gb and free space 198Gb. But exploring the drive sees nothing, it just reports "This folder is empty". I have Googled the problem and been through the drive letter issue in disc management, but still no luck. Permissions are set to full control, and the drive is set to shared.

If I (in Windows 7) copy a file from my documents on to the drive, it shows up and can be accessed.

Googling the problem I see MANY have the same problem in Windows 7, but so far I find no solution.

So help so solve this problem would be greatly appreciated by many.

Best Regards Egnilkpa
