Help!
I have a Samsung USB 2.0 External hard disk drive, 500GB capacity. The model number is HXMU050DA. When I plug it in into any of my computers(I have 2 laptops and 2 desktops), none of the computers recognise the hard drive in their startup menu, where the startup device can be chosen. What is the problem, and how should I tackle it?

Does it feel like the drive is still spinning up? Is it showing up in Disk Management?
- Right-click MY COMPUTER > select MANAGE > open STORAGE > open DISK MANAGEMENT
Let me know what you find out.

restart holding down f8 or f10 to access your SYSTEM BIOS, check your start up options and you'll see what to do to allow sys to boot up using....

Yeah, been there, done that. As I said, the drive doesn't work on ANY of my computers, not just one. Its not recognised by the BIOS at all, but it is recognised by the OS. I think something is wrong with the drive itself.

I've had similar problems like this with one of my hard drives, but I found it was due to possibly loose or faulty USB ports on my computer as it worked fine on other computers.
If you have the same problem on multiple computers, then it's obvious it's a problem with the hard drive itself, though it doesn't necessarily mean it's broken.
