Hi,
I've got the following problem: when I connect the Samsung G2 External HDD the led turns on, the sound of the plugged (and unplugged) cable is audible but the laptop doesn't show its presence. I checked amongst the "Device Manager" list and found that the system does recognise it (the name "Samsung G2 Portable" is shown) but apparently no drivers are installed/detected, at least this is the message that I get when I open its properties folder.
My laptop is absolutely brand new, I bought it less than a week ago (14/06/2012), it's an Acer Aspire 5755G, i5-2450M, 6GB memory, Windows 7 Home Edition as operating system. I have tried the Samsung G2 External HDD on another laptop, using Windows Ultimate - no problems at all, since I first plugged it (one year ago, appros).
I looked for drivers on this website, which should be the correct place where to find them, and to my great surprise (negative, obviously) I found that the only available ones are for MAC OS... really embarrassing...
I need to solve this problem out and be able, like all customers should be, to use the product that I bought proprerly and without further issues.
Your goal in life should be to make life easier to the clients, not to mess things up and make them waste their precious time...
Regards,

Uninstall where you see the device listed in device manager....disconnect the drive and power cycle your computer.
When the computer comes back up, reconnect the drive.
The drives use drivers from your OS...they aren't provided by seagate/samsung...so there really isn't a "driver" to download from here...
but try what I recommended and see if that gets you anywhere.

I got the same problem too.. when I connect the Samsung G2 External HDD the led turns on, the sound of the plugged cable is audible but the hard drive is not recognized.
I can not even format it because it does not appear as an external disk connected to usb. disk died?

It would also be good to take a look at our external drive troubleshooter:
