After downloading the SeaTools for Windows to check my SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ I tried to run the tool and got the following Fatal Error: Device Discovery message:
Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. System.String mid(System.String.Int32, Int32).
I wanted to use SeaTool to see if I could fix a problem I am having with the HDD where it freezes up the computer when trying a backup. Is there a problem with SeaTools working with this particular Samsung HDD?

The error mentioned (Error: Device Discovery message:Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. System.String mid(System.String.Int32, Int32) usually relates to an update being needed for your C++ programs. Please uninstall Seatools for Windows and then install MS Visual C++ 2005 and MS Visual C++ 2008. Then you may reinstall Seatools for Windows and see if it works then.
Alternatively, a solution that does not require any updates would be to run our Seatools for DOS utility which is a self booting diagnostic which does not run within the operating system. This utility can be downloaded here: http://ow.ly/95UHJ
There can be a variety of reasons why your system may freeze when trying a backup. Certainly to eliminate the drive as a cause it would be wise to run Seatools. Seatools will work with Samsung drives.
