broken chip on HD204UI PCB

Hi, i have a broken chip that makes that the HD is not working, i have tried to find a replacement  board, but is not available in the two places i have found, is there anyhtinh i can do?, i got the full details at home if needed.

The disk works perfectly with another PCB from my other HD204UI that i have at home, but i don't wanna miss 2 TB of disk space.

Thanks

What's going on here?

Whose board has the "broken chip", Marcel Garcia's or hddinfo's?

I can see that the board in hddinfo's attachment has a chipped coil in the negative supply for the preamp at the left edge of the PCB. I hope you're not selling this board, hddinfo? Or are these posts just some of your poorly crafted spam?

BTW, my understanding is that newer Samsung models require a chip swap:

This makes me wonder how Marcel Garcia managed to get his "disk [to] work perfectly with another PCB from my other HD204UI".

Marcel, I'm confused. Is that your broken board in hddinfo's photo, or is hddinfo selling his own physically damaged PCB?

That reply is for fzabkar second post.

Hi, well, i have two drives with all the same pcb, and that pcb work in both, why?, no clue, but at last i have transfered the files from the faulty drive.

Thanks

PD, about the pcb picture,  i have seen also the broken coil, that's why i have avoided to purchase that, not sure that it will work.

Re: broken chip on HD204UI PCB

Marcel, could you show us a photo of your board? Sometimes there is an easy DIY fix.

BTW, 80 euros is almost enough for a new drive:

Hi, here you have, is a "coil" with 4R7 on top, same that the other down, i don't feel i can't fix with a solder.

Thanks a lot.

Re: broken chip on HD204UI PCB

Marcel, your board is easily fixed. See the following thread (yours is a 4R7 coil):
http://forum.hddguru.com/can-anyone-identify-damaged-component-1r5-t22040.html

That said, I only see one broken "chip". Where is the second one?

The other PCB is not in a "good state", as you seem to think. It may or may not work (it probably will), but hddinfo should make potential buyers aware of the damage. In any case, I wouldn't expect anyone to take a chance with it. In fact your own board seems to have similar damage, and you are telling us that it doesn't work.

BTW, I think you are the one that needs good luck, not me. Thanks anyway. :-)

Re: broken chip on HD204UI PCB

Hi, the second coil also seems unfixed, if i touch it, is not fully solder to the board.

I have tried to solder, but i'm unable, seems that the circuit is broken, and i can't see where to solder, anyway i will try to find those coils; did those coils have polarity?

Thanks a lot fzabkar

PD, is say good luck usualy in all my posts.
