Barracuda or constellation?

Somewhat convoluted question:

I'm building a simple stand alone system but it runs 24/7 (well it's on that time period but it idles a lot)

Here is the question:

I am either going to get  2 barracudas and use Raid 1 for backup functions (performance hit a bit)

but they are the 6gb/sec SATA's

OR I can get one constellation drive (more robust) and backup incrementally to an external drive.

This drive (for cost constraints) is the 3gb/sec version. Specs imply this dive is a tad faster in read/writes then the equiv barracuda (not sure if it's at the same SATA rate or the 3 vs. 6)...

Are constellations fine for just plain primary drive functions?

Is one or the other going to have a noticeable performance advantage?

does barracuda redundancy trump constellation build quality?

Hopefully someone will chime in

PS 2 constellations in raid 1 (and the 6gb/sec versions) would seem to be best for a simple home system but could be a bit overkill since I've had good luck w/ Seagate (Samsung as well).

Current money constraints rules that out.

2 constellations in a raid 1 (3gb/sec) versions is doable but seems overkill to the 2 barracudas (6gb/sec) unless there is some major performance increase.

Of course the specs can be misleading.
