Cheetah ST373455SS problematic on IOP348 RAID Controllers ...

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I'm trying to get 5 HDD working on a SuperMicro AOC-USASLP-S8iR (based on Intel IOP348 chip), but, i'm facing a problem.

I just have 1 HDD which is usable by the controller (reported size is 68.3GB) but the others 4 are showing as "NOT SUPPORTED".

By the way, their sizes are reported as 66.9GB.

These HDD are brand new, never opened and i don't think they are concerned by some hardware problem.

I contacted SuperMicro about firmware upgrade of the card but it seems that this RAID Controller is on End-Of-Life and they will not provide new firmware for it.

This is very bad news as the disks were released on 2009 and the RAID Controller quite on the same time.

The fact that it could be some incompatibility problems is really anoying !

If it was on SATA, i could admit it, but i just don't understand why there is so much problems between those drives and this controller !

Thank you for your help !

PS : on the attached image, there were only 3 disks attached (1st : working/supported / 2nd and 3rd : problematics)
