Hey I got a seagate 3tb as a gift not to long ago as a gift this year part # 9ZQAN8-571 3TB last night it made this beeping sound and the drive started to sound a bit weird to me. I downloaded seatools but it does not detect the drive with a Gold icon. I restarted my computer and also made sure it was the only usb drive connected to my computer.
I had the same issue no gold icon. I decided to go out pick up a another hard drive to backup what's currently on their and I noticed some of files were missing! So I transferred what I could. Reformatted the seagate drive re ran the seatools it was still greyed out no model number or firmware information just --- for them. I selected the drive did a short scan it came out fine I did a long scan it was stuck on 00:00 no errors just not moving it beeped once more that was it.
Really appreciate what would be the best way on handling this Im not getting no seatools error and the drive now that's its empty seems to be working ok I haven't heard any beeps when I been transferring some small files back on to it... But I just don't trust it as I already lost data on it... and the long test doesn't seem to work or give me a error.. I decided to leave the test on for the entire day today so ill report back if anything changes.
