How to make best use of our Accepted Solutions feature

[ Edited ]

You may all be aware of the Accepted Solutions feature, which is described in this announcement.

Every post that adds onto the thread after someone posts a question, ie, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th post, etc, will have this symbol to the right:

When one of those posts answers the question, either the original poster or a moderator can click on that button and mark the post as an Accepted Solution and the thread as a Solved thread. The original post posing the question will display this grey bar and message:

You may click on the Go to Solution link to be taken to the answer that has been marked as answering the original question.

The Accepted Solution will display this in the post:

And next to the title of the post, a small green checkbox will appear:

Over the course of time, users and moderators have encountered posts that answer the question posed in the original post. The forum search function can allow you to search all the solved threads in the forum or in specific boards, or with even narrower search parameters.

Go to the forum home page and you will see this search section near the top of the page:

Click on Advanced.

Then you will be taken to the Advanced Search page.

Item #1 shows where you can choose which product-specific board you would like to search.
Item #2 shows the checkbox to make the search show only Accepted Solution.
Item #3 - the checkboxes next to every thread link show that these threads are all marked as solved.

Here are some sample searches:

-Search for all Solved threads in the Barracuda XT, Barracuda, Barracuda Green, DiamondMax

and other desktop SATA and IDE drives board

-Search for all Solved threads in the GoFlex drives board
