Warranty coverage for drives removed from their external casing
Sometimes in the course of attempting to access data on an external
Seagate or Maxtor drive that was rendered inaccessible by normal means
by a drive crash, a user will remove the actual hard disc drive unit
found inside the external casing and attempt to connect that unit
inside a computer to recover the data.
Please note that this action will void the warranty on the drive.
For more information, please see the Seagate Consumer Warranty information found on this page. The third paragraph "What Does Our Warranty Not Cover?" is the most relevant to this issue.
