My Seagate Wireless Plus Drive used to work perfectly.
I've put pictures and music on it...wireless and Wired.
But since yesterday - without any specific reason - I cannot connect to it anymore.
I've tried everything:
wireless: the blue light and green light burn solid.
The drive shows up in my wireless network list.
When I try to connect it tries to make a connection and then windows (8) says: cannot connect to this network.
I can connect to my other networks without a problem.
I plug it in my USb 3 slot, the white light on the drive starts burning... blue light goes out. power light burns green.
after about 20 seconds you can hear the disc spin down. the white lights goes out and the green light goes to orange.
The drive does not show up in my explorer.
Tried this on different computers...same result.
Tried to reset the drive by using a paperclip in the rest button on the bottom: no effect. the lights keep burning solid green and blue even if I reset it.
on a rare occasion, I manage to connect wirelessly to the drive and can access it... but in the newtork list on my laptop it says 'limited' connection.
So... is my drive busted? any idea what might be the problem?

Could you please try this?

Can't rule out the unit being faulty; if that doesn't work I figure it probably is.

If you force shut it down, remove all data, can you still access the drive? If so, that means its the scanning of the drive that is creating the slowdown.

I don't think so. I have 10 000 hires pictures, 20 HD movies and 5000 songs. The scanning is done only once UNLESS I reboot from telnet. I push logs to my Mac to see what is happening and there is no rescanning under normal use.

Have the same problem. Bought the drive about two weeks ago. Everything was working fine. Loaded some videos. Fine. Renamed the drive and password protected the wifi connection. Fine. Loaded my photo library (~20k pictures), scanned, worked fine.
For the last few days I cannot connect. I see the signal, but when I join it just loads and does not connect. I tried a factory reset, but that failed. I cannot turn the drive off, I have to hold the power button down for 15 seconds to turn off. Comes right on from off. I can access all data from a PC. Cannot connect wirelessly.
Updated the firmware. No change. Currently running up-to-date firmware.
Next step is to delete data and see if this changes anything.
It seems I'm not the only one. That makes me feel marginally better.

Formatting now. I backed up the base file structure (folders, etc)
Did this work? Did you drop the firmware into a freshly formated disk, or did you restore the folders and Seagate files first?
Power on, firmware drop, power off, disconnect from computer, power on?
